So why bet heavily on Seismic? It could be because the story is not "privacy for individual users" but "privacy for fintech and banks." The B2B market is always easier to make money than B2C.

There is a new privacy blockchain called Seismic. Notably, they chose TEE instead of ZK. Most previous privacy chains (Zcash, Monero, Aleo, Aztec) are built on Zero-Knowledge Proofs. ZK is beautiful mathematics, theoretically secure, but it has a problem: it is very expensive and slow when running complex smart contracts. The more logic, the higher the cost. @SeismicSys chose TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) - specifically Intel TDX. This method is significantly cheaper, faster, and most importantly, smart contracts can still interact naturally without incurring extra fees. But there is a price to pay: you have to trust Intel, trust the hardware. ZK requires no trust, TEE does. A question to ponder: will the fintech and banking markets - Seismic's target customers - accept this trade-off? Or will they say "if you have to trust Intel, might as well use a centralized database for safety"? No answer yet. But at least Seismic has chosen a different path, not following the ZK trail.
